with some byte-errors in them that makes the decoder output
these pops. It hasn't happened since last time. If it happens I will
play the same track in Winamp to compare.
AFAIK 24bit 48Khz is the maximum supported quality and 48Khz needs to
be resampled.

I have never ever had any clicks or pops with my Denon-receiver when
playing from my computer (SPDIF Coaxial) or Denon DVD-2920 (optical
SPDIF).
I suspect there might be some kind of bug in the Squeezebox firmware.
