If you're interested in upgrading your Transporter or Meridian G68,
Mauimods.com (Aberdeen)is the one to contact.
It would be interesting to compare an upgraded Transporter to a
aplhifi.com upgraded Denon 5910.

Great report.
Are you're going to send the Transporter back for a refund?

current SB3 setup, I
would call the $2000 Transporter an absolute bargain.
You must have a remarkable system, if you think it compares to
Sleestack's gear.
Other than the Aberdeen PSU, what upgrades have you done to your RCS
and SB, and what's the rest of your system?

I have only replaced the power supply, and treated all contacs.

Try the Aberdeen Northstar transport and forget about the SB.

PS- the Aberdeen upgrades to the 2.2X and NorthStar also eliminate the
need for add-on boxes like the Apogee Big Ben.
PPS- Aberdeen is currently working on upgrades for the Transporter.

jhm731- We didn't directly compare the DAC3 with the Transporter,
however we did compare the DAC3 with the Lavry. It wasn't exhaustive,
just a quick comparison since we had both units in the same room. I
can tell you that I would choose the Lavry over the DAC3
.
Great info.
Your DIY SB2/Monica2 DAC combo sounds very interesting.
How much did this project cost?

The TacT RCS's digital inputs are isolated from the unit's ground plane
by pulse transformers. The analog inputs are connected to the ground
plane. My guess is connecting the SB's analog outputs to the TacT
allows noise from the SB to be shunted
to the RCS's filtered ground plane.

the CD/SB sound improved massively.
Now try disconnecting the SB from your TacT 2.2x, and the CD sound will

Yes, although I doubt you'll find any standalone DAC today that sounds

I wonder how many DAC designers would capacitor couple the AK4396's

Interesting that there's no RFI/EMI shielding around that cute little

Good spot for some ERS material.
