I got no response in one of the other forums, so I will try here.

Hello I have a new install of slimserver and, by-in-large, everthing is
working as expected and it is great software !

My local collection of music files is made up of both .mp3 and .ogg
files. Some of the best I have is saved at a nominal 320 kbps .ogg
files. As I understand my setup, lame is being used to convert this
file to a .mp3 stream "on-the-fly" as it is being served. I can change
it to a lower bit rate, for example, 128 kbps, for better streaming
over the internet. I can also control the lame setting from 0 (slowest,
best quality) to 9 (fastest, lowest quality).

The problem is that when I play the served files locally, I get just
noise ! However, if I play .mp3 files that need no conversion, I get
good sound.

I suspect slow processor as a possible cause. My machine is a 1 GHz AMD
Athlon. I am running Linux/Ubuntu/Breezy.

Any help appreciated.
