The DIR1701 does not do its job correctly, which is why they don't make it any longer. The receivers are not perfect; all contribute a significant amount of reflections. Cables are not exactly 75 ohms. Really, really good ones are spec'ed at +/- 0.75 ohms. Average ones are spec'ed at +/- 3.0 oh
