How does the sound change ? Is it subtle ?
I have a similar one. I have seen them for as little as
I tried a tube buffer in my system, and it made mp3s sound much better -
more like music that hasn't been compressed. You can get a decent tube
buffer for $150-$200. I think if you listen to mp3's that would be a
more cost effective use of your money.

My 300GB, 3+ track music collection is almost entirely mp3 (Lame
extreme preset, av 256) so I guess those AAC / 24+96 issues are not so

With MP3s and CV speakers (most notable for playing LOUD, not
necessarily clearly), I doubt you'll notice any difference between your
Duet and a Touch.
I use FLAC, and more resolving speakers, and I hardly notice the
difference myself.
And BTW, I own (and use) a pair of AT-60s myself, just so

I recently changed my Duet with analogue out, to Touch with an Audio-gd
DAC, and the difference was pretty significant. But that is with
Dynaudio speakers and a ton of very clean power to drive them.
When I swapped the Touch into my other system in place of my SB2, there
