I'm glad you've got it working for you.
I personally can't hear any difference between fw15 and the latest fw
(aside from the obvious volume control behaviour), but if it works for
you, then it's fine by me.
It's just a shame that open source and open minds don't go hand in hand
really.

I went into Windows Safe Mode/Command Prompt and edited the
squeezebox2.version file, as you suggested - I think.
Instead of the single line:

I now have 2 lines, with the second line directly below the first:

I loaded v.15 on both SB3's. I then unplugged the one that I want v.15

That may work ...
I tried loading 15 on the modded unit and unplugging it - Then I loaded
81 on the stock unit.
Then I modded the version file to include:

Instead of:

Try this:
Edit server/Firmware/squeezebox2.version.
Note: your file may have a different number than 80
Change this line:
1..80 80
To this:
1..14 15
16..80 80
That should skip firmware upgrades for firmware 15

I seem to be having connectivity problems with Pandora and Firmware
v.15 and SS 6.5.1. If I went to a version of SS that was designed for
Firmware v.15 rather than v.72, I'm afraid I wouyld loose some of the
newer features, such as Pandora.
