I was sooo tempted to LMGTFY :) but being as it is your

Hi
I have Olive musica device, it worked great about last 10 years and I
enjoyed my music until last sunday. Something went wrong with the
electric system in my house. After shutdown my Olive musica device
doesn't starting. I moved several times for last 10 years and I think I
lost the recovery
The day I received the SB I knew there was no going back. It's changed
my listening habits entirely, and expanded my musical sense. This
device in particular is easy to use, is customizeable, very attractive,
is completely reliable, and worthwhile even if 90% of all music stations
were shut
At first, I considered buying the Azur 640H Music Server. And then I saw
the price... ;-) They could include a beefier hard drive for that price,
no? 160 GB is on the small side. Fortunately, I then found out about the
Squeezebox. The rest is history... :-)
There's also a similar product by

Speaking of all-in-one units like the Olive, does anyone have any
experience of the Cambridge Audio offering? Just curious.

When ripping a CD, the Olive reads the info off the CD. Works quite well
and generally gives the user the info needed.
When reading files that were ripped somewhere else and imported, it
reads the existing tags. So results depend on source.
The resulting tags can also be changed with the

At the price and positioning of the product as easy to use, they must be
licensing the CDDB and storing it on the built-in HD. There would likely
be some way to update periodically as has been featured with numerous
products before it (including the Rio Server).

Just checked the Olive website, and sure enough it says:
Built-in database with 2,000, tracks to recognize and tag CDs.

So if you try to load a CD that isn't in

FYI at the Olive forum:

There are hacks that (1)allow one to view/copy music files on the Olive
- I've done it and it works.
(2) explain how to switch the internal HD for a new/larger HD. Haven't
tried this.

I think the most important issue when deciding between the 2 types of

Right, the fallacy of Gracenote and FreeDB is there can never be one

somebody else's version of reality [Genre = Shoegaze] - WTF??? or
you'll have to do lots of research and manual editing.
The thing is, as collections grow and
Hi-
The SB3 and the Olive aren't meant to address exactly the same market.
I've got experience with both.
The Olive is meant to give high quality digital audio to someone who
doesn't want to integrate a PC into their audio setup - that is, a
digital music hub as independent stereo system

Hi guys-
I'm thinking about getting a Squeezbox 3, but have also been intrigued
by the Olive Musica. One of the things that sways me most toward the
SB3 is this vibrant community for support. On the other hand, the
Musica seem to have more robust hardware.
