There's also a hardware jumper inside that sets attenuation in the
analog domain, so you can run it at 100% digital volume and set the
jumper if this overwhelms the system.

It is digital. Not going under -30db wouldn´t loose any bits. I can´t
find the source atm for this info but remember it this way.
