There is no sound quality difference between the coax or Toslink.
They are both transmitting binary code not an audio signal. If you are
receiving noise with the coax when you are turning the lights down its
time to resolve your home's electrical grounding issue.

There is almost difference. Optical induced jitter through the DAC magic
should not be an issue. And the because the DAC Magic is a 24bit system
it should handle the optional 24 bit resolution. That is assuming that
the duets' receiver optical output is 24 bit.

I had to use optical, the coax caused horrible scratchy sounds whenever
I dimmed any lights in the house. BTW, could not tell any difference
between the 2 otherwise.

I have the SB connected to the DacMagic via coaxial (at least the plug
is :-) and the MacMini connected to the DacMagic via optical.
I found the difference between coaxial and optical to be marginal at
best. I chose more on the basis of convenience.
The best is for you to try both and see if YOU

Same here: get a decent 75 ohm coax (or a decent optical) and forget
about it. The more recent (and the better designed) the dac is, the less
