OK, so I found the problem with PS #1. I opened the box and discovered
the leads from the regulator and one of the leads from the transformer
were touching the center channel (support beam, of sorts) of the
I expect that the power cable is used on kit that has an earth.
Also the cable may shunt mains bournor emi/rfi goop back to the earth
at the wall.
I'd wait a few hours for the psu to charge the caps rather than make a
snap decision does the new psu sound different to the supplied one

umbilical cord, if the unit does not have an earth ground? Also why

To clarify Sean, blowing up your Squeezebox by modding in any way is not
covered under the warranty. This includes using a power supply that's
not from us.

I bought two of these for my SB3s. Neither one came with the printed
circuit boards, so they had to ship those. I put the first one
together last night and discovered the power cord is too big to fit
through the supplied strain relief, so I went to my neighborhood
hardware store and bought two

I just got the SB3 last week and so far I love it!
I'd like to slowly move up to some of the mods, but I don't have the
cash right now. Is there a linear power supply that I could purchase
(maybe online) that would be an upgrade to the stock power supply that
came with the SB3. I've looked

Rummaging around I found a regulated linear power supply 1200ma with
variable output from 1.5, 3, 4.5, 6, 9 and 12 volt dc. I am using it
with my sb3 set on 4.5 volts. Is this worth using? Should I be looking
for a much better power supply? It sounds fine, possibly slightly
better than the stock
