Very thorough research, thanks! The extra satellite is available
directly from Acoustic Energy for £40 plus pp. Rather steep though
since that is nearly half the total price..

For a little higher budget, you should definitly try your hears on Elac
310.2 Jet speakers:

Those speakers are just incredible (I own a pair a little more than a
year ago and I still get astonished by how such a little speaker
sounds).

LOL, almost makes me want to bust up my Aego-5 system and sell off the
sats. I only paid $220

Good question, since the extra amp is already there. I'll check it out
and report back...

Very interesting...I tried it on the bedroom system that has the L and R
speakers on a shelf. Adding the C speaker and putting it in the middle
tended to collapse the stereo spread, and since I was closer to the C
speaker, it seemed louder and had a tendency to overwhelm the other
channels a

I'm currently talking to Hexateq about creating a 2 channel,
flush-mount, auto-sensing D class amp that fits into the wall.
The idea is that it hooks to a set of ceiling speakers and power at the
back, with RCA on the front for connecting the SB3 up to. No power
switch, no LEDs.
At the moment
Cheers. How large is the Aego´s sub and how well do you find you can
hide it? In terms of positioning is it a pain? My ideal would be to
only have the sattelites visible..

Sub Woofer - 265 x 190 x 350mm
Satellites - 68mm x 103mm x 90mm
I haven't had a problem positioning it. It works well under the desk
in a computer situation. In one bedroom, it's on a low bookshelf
beneath the sats. In the other bedroom, it's under the bed with the
sats high up
Thanks again for the advice.. I don't suppose you have heard the aegos
vs the engines? People seem to like them both but have either heard one
or the other..

Lots of positive results on this forum with both systems. I have not
heard the AudioEngines. They are a good bit larger than the Aegos, so
not as easy to conceal in a small room. Do a search on these forums
for AudioEngine and you'll get lots of info.

Are there any suggestions out there for discrete speaker systems
suitable for small rooms (say ten square metres)? Ideally any solution
would also sound great at relatively low volumes.. and lets say there
is a 500 pound budget but less is definitely more..
Many thanks

I am sure powered monitors are a great route and have heard a lot of
good things about the audio engines. I was however looking for
something a little smaller that could be slightly more hidden away -
sorry i should have been more specific - any ideas?

The problem with
Aego-M from Acoustic Energy. £99. The tiny satellites can go almost
anywhere, and the sub is modest-sized and could be placed behind a
curtain or a couch. Sounds excellent at low volumes and can also play
quite loudly without breaking up. High tech design with heavy metal
alloy cabinets for
