Yes I've decided to stick with the Arcam a85 amp.
The Rega demo unit has been returned to the dealer today.
Waiting to get the Audiolab M-Dac now on home trial ? Anyone heard it
? I know What hi-fi reviewed it but I don't trust them for a minute!
The other slightly cheaper option is the MF M1
audiolab and Musical fidelity is well known contenders good luck :) have
not heard any of them lately
MF did some realy wierd voodo hifi in the companys infancy but nowadays
they seems to do solid engineering ( if you look away from thier
mystical nuvistor offering a couple of years ago ).
The Audiolab M-DAC looks interesting enough that I've pre-ordered one
(sight unseen). It's chinese manufactured, but the designer (John
West) is a respected digital engineer, and the (early) reviews have
been generally favorable. Lots of discussion about the M-DAC and the
new Audiolab 8200

By the time you 'upgrade' power supplies to the Touch, add fancy cables
and a quite expensive external DAC that will still suffer all the
problems inherent with s/pdif you will have spent the same, if not
more, money than a Linn Sneaky -DS network streamer will cost you.
I'm not sure what is you are after, but external DAC differences are
pretty subtle. Personally, I wouldn't ditch the Rega for an Emotiva
anything--but that's just me.

The rega DAC is from a reputable stable brand :)
If you want to try DAC's try other reputable brands thats been in the
bussines for a while .
Avoid strange contraptions like NOS-dac's without any filters or
similar .
There seems to pop up a new chinese made DAC every week to cash in on

Rega dac connected to my Touch in stand alone mode (on home trial

Im loving the sound but the improvement over the onboard dac is now
jaw,dropping not yet anyway.
Has anyone tried the Emotiva XDA-1 dac with the
Imo differences between god dac's can not be jaw droping then one of
them is faulty.
If you rationally think about how it works for second or two Touch
already reproduces most of the signal it only obscures it in a little
more noice and distorsion than the best DAC's out there.
It is also a
