I read one forum where a guy tried this. He measured the current draw of
the system with and with out the tape. It was actually a bit lower with
the tape. I passed it on to one of the design engineers here who is a
skeptic but has an audiophile friend, so is a bit sympathetic. Here is
his
lower resistance at the power plug would lead to higher, not lower
current draw.

Sigh , a faulty conector just jiggle it a bit as a fix before replacing
it if the contact presure is enogh it works .
don't forget to oil your fuse box with some of peter w belts
products...

One of the most recent tweaks I've done on my system was to clean the
contacts on the power cables, interconnects, and speaker cables. This
cheap and easy-to-do tweak rendered audible improvements as far as
clarity, stability, and authority of the reproduced sound.
That positive result got me

Isn't Teflon (PTFE) a very good electrical insulator? Sounds like the
very last thing you'd want to wind around the prongs making an
electrical connection.
I have no doubt that it makes the physical connection feel tighter, but
you can only be reducing and compromising the actual contact area,
