Thanks for all this guys. The nice people at Loud Clear in Edinburgh
are going to lend me some Chord Cobra 3 and I'll take it from there.
All I'm waiting for now is for the Transporter to arrive!

I've ordered my Transporter and it should be with me in a couple of
weeks. I've pretty much decided I need to connect via my pre amp rather
than direct to the crossover and would welcome advice on how best to do
this.
System is Naim NAC102 feeding Linn Activ crossover into three NAP250s
driving
Nice system Jeremy.
You should be fine with analogue phono-din and some rothwell
attenuators in line... The NAC has quite a sensitive input as I recall
- 75mV with 40dB margin?

If you're going to use the unbalanced outputs, then you can set the
internal attenuation
My TP sounds better with balanced cable. The unbalanced has a slight bit
of hardness in the top end. This may be system dependent.
You might want to try both.

... but is balanced vs unbalanced just a case of a different type of
cable?

No absolutely not!
The cable is different...yes. Three conductors instead of two +/- and
ground. But the real point of balanced operation is the ability to
reject common-mode noise through

By all means experiment. However, your Naim equipment is designed to be
fed from unbalanced sources.
Good advice. Get some Chord Cobra3 cables (RCA -- DIN) or some
MoonAudio Black Dragons (my choice).
