If you apply my Toolbox to the Touch, you can turn the analog output
off from the SW side.
At least the bits are no longer routed in parallel to all outputs in
that case.

Some dumb questions that search or RTFM not made obvious.
Have RTFM'd but can't find out how the internal DAC in SB Touch is
automatically disabled when one attaches an external DAC. Is it a
by-default setting when spidf out is connected (coax or opt.)? I want
to be sure that it is the

It isn't disabled. The internal DAC continues to operate in parallel
with the SPDIF output, regardless of whether you connect an external
DAC.

Just for clarity, if the internal Touch DAC continues to operate, is
it's digital output via spidf, then subsequently clocked/reclocked and
D/A converted again at the external DAC stage?
