with the digital amps, why do we need to be concerned with a DAC ? I'm gonna get the Panasonic XR55 soon and I'm gonna hook up the SB3 Digital Out to the Panasonic and get the DAC out of the equation. No more wondering if Benchmark is gonna cut or is it the Lawry's. I see the DACs getting obsolete when Digital amps are getting more mainstream, especially with their mainstream prices. I haven't heard the sound yet, but bypassing the DAC and simplifying the path the digital bits has to travelled, can't be bad. Anyway for the cost of the Panasonic XR55, which is about the same as Vinni's / Wayne's mods, it will be a good comparision.
Maybe, SlimDevices can sell a Digital Out Only version of the SB3 for a lower price.
