I was pursuaded[1] to keep some unworthy packages in the AUR, and the
thread was inconclusive (may be my final email was too long)...
To summarise the contents of that thread: for a group of related
packages, the stable versions are not likely to work for anyone and the
VCS versions (*-bzr)

using mutt instead [1], their mailing lists have not had any activity
