While the AL lists are well-maintained and mostly spam free, sometimes
a few get through, as on the arch-dev-public list today. I don't know

There are widely varying methods for specifying the license of a
public domain package in Arch Linux. We should standardise and
use one of them. Some packages use
- 'Public Domain' (unclutter, python-webpy)
- 'PD' (ttf-mph-2b-damase)

It's useful to run namcap on a maintainer's packages on the
AUR, especially when people apply for TU. This pair of scripts
fetches the package names belonging to a maintainer (it only
fetches the first 100 results though) and the second runs namcap
on the package list by downloading the PKGBUILDs f

A few notes on your PKGBUILDs
- url is a string, not an array (amule-upnp)
- package description should not start with pkgname (baltazar, dirac-codec)
- you can use $pkgname-$pkgver in source array, makes
maintenance easier (cpuspeed)
- backup array has preceding slashes (cpuspeed)
- if you put

Installing packages from AUR would become simpler,

Many packages in Arch don't have Maintainer tags in their
PKGBUILDs (around 345 last time I checked). Also quite a few
the PKGBUILDs are not updated by the current maintainer.
It is better to do away with maintainer tags altogether, since

to the /opt/gnome path for GNOME files which was changed
to /usr quite a while back.
They should either be deleted or changed to reflect the current
changes. Are the tags relevant for the current GNOME?

packages which install icons in /usr/share/icons/hicolor should depend on
hicolor-icon-theme and invoke gtk-update-icon-cache.
