I don't think there is a problem with this package existing. Some
people don't want Gnome dependencies.
It would be nice if someone was maintaining the package, but it's not a
requirement. Also the previous maintainer has responded to your
comments with an explanation of why people might want t

This is an old binary release of gdc. It's provided by gdc1-bin now to
avoid conflicts with newer gdc packages.
Can it be deleted/merged.

There is a gdc-git package in the AUR already, I'd recommend you check
that out.
Regarding your error, from what I can see in your package function make
install isn't called in the correct directory.
