Take a look at the latest (17:10 local) Himawari 8 image from
http://himawari8.nict.go.jp/ . Note the cumulus are lined up with the
wind around the high pushing in to the southern Queensland/northern
NSW area. An hour earlier is even more obvious.

Maybe but you can step through and the Japanese
images show lots of detail of interest to glider
pilots which the BoM images completely lose.

This site has Himawari - 8 images at higher resolution than the BoM
provides. Cheaped out on the resolution BoM? I guess they spent the
money on global warming research.
