Any of you taking the BGA magazine would be aware of the Safety insert in each issue and also the summary reports of incidents that have occurred in the previous few months. I think this would be a good process to emulate and use our own magazine in a similar fashion.

I have never understood why AG doesn't have a monthly list
of accidents and incidents, along the lines of those in
"Sailplane & Glider" (UK magazine).
These are very short descriptions with only the Club name
and the number of hours and ages of the pilot(s). I find
them helpful in keeping my awar
I subsricbe to the American Soaring Societies 'Soaring' magazine. It
regularly runs a column entitled Safety Corner, where recent
accidents are reported with the purpose of preventing pilots making
the same mistakes.
It is a worthwhile column.

Peter,
I suspect there is nothing at all about multiclass nationals that makes them
more prone to mid airs. There have been at least two at sports class
nationals that I can remember, and one at a Queensland state comps. Just
have a look at the statistics for mid airs in gliding and shudder. Don't

The statistics below don't do anything to encourage pilots to fly in the
Multiclass Nationals or for even clubs to host it.
I think I will stick to State Comps and Sport Class Nationals (when and if
it comes back to SA). I was also about to change my insurance down to
trailering and hangerage

Yes, there was a serious mid-air at Narromine and I was one of
the pilots involved.
I have no regrets that the accident did not receive TV or news
coverage as that usually only happens where there is a fatal, and such items
really don't help our sport.

I agree with this 100%. I also heard about the accident via the
grape-vine and had to ring a friend of mine who was competing to find out if
he and other friends were OK.
I think that the public reporting of accidents is vital in saving other
peoples lives. Be sensitive

I have heard in a rather round-about way that there was a serious mid-air
accident at Narromine during the Nationals, with one glider a write off and
the other badly damaged but
