I spotted another glider north of the Leigh Creek coalfields
on the way north and was going to find out who the pilot was.
Rob has answered my question already.
The cruising under the trough line had to be experienced to be
believed. My co-pilot stepped out of the ASH 25 and said:"
Congratulations to John, Jade, Terry and Peter... a bloody good effort!
Especially when you consider that Peter and Terry were (I assume) flying a
DG-200 and LS3... not what most people would consider 1000k ships.
And the weather is heading our way :))

around 1000feet, and breeze from the north at 25, gusting 30 knots, not
what you would call good gliding weather.
