It is very hard while close to the event to also give media the titbit they need, plus if possible some 'hook' that gives the reading public more than 'shock/horror/outrage/someone ought to stop these people for their own good'.

As far as I can work out, you wouldn't have identified the owner/pilot from
this accident by looking up the CASA site as it will still show the previous
owners details, that have not been updated since the recent sale of the
aircraft.
