We watched the hi-res day 5 VOD this morning. Very impressive and it worked
without stopping most of the time. The first time I've seen anything I would
call video from the coverage. But I've had no success with VOD in the
evening - presumably due to load on the server.
Today's live coverage wa
Hi Michael
Some people have indeed tried to quantify the effect.
Fred Thomas "Fundamentals of Sailplane Design" only briefly mentions the
subject and is more to do with stability.
Fred does quote a range of references including many of Frank Irving's

There's a Motor Falke with a BRAND NEW 1700 Limbach lurking at Waikerie for the
next few weeks.
It is for sale...or could be subject to a lease arrangementand can be
flown almost anywhere in OZ to fit such an arrangement.

I can only add pub talk but the single seat gliders I've flown (most
dramatically my LS4) I feel have all been greatly improved by being flown
close to the aft C of G. The significant improvement came from better
thermalling and perhaps more importantly the increased feel it gives

Hi All
I once did a test flying an Astir just with me in it and then landed
loaded up with parachute, tie down kit, lots of drinking water and
outlanding kit and my climb rates compared to the other gliders (same
gliders and pilots) were significantly reduced.
ie all variables were the same excep
I thought about shelling out for the 'live' coverage however I
eventually decided I'd rather spend the cash on an aerotow. I see JR
bought a Coke and ice cream instead; jeez, prices must be through the
roof in Millicent!

Has anyone in Australia had any success viewing the VOD for the NZ GP? At
best I get one video frame update every 10 seconds or so. Most of the time
there is no video and the audio cuts in and out. It is very disappointing to
have paid over $30 for this 'video'. The live coverage isn't much better.
