Compasses? Oh yes, I remember looking at one once in a glider. About early 1993 when we just had GPS and on that leg the turnpoint was bearing 145 degrees or so from where I was. There wasn't a lot of wind so I I looked at the compass to see that it also said 145 when the nose was pointed

Isn't the main point about having a compass the fact they don't need a power supply to work? So if you suddenly lose your batteries for some reason, you can use a map and compass to find where you are and just as importantly (hopefully) be able to tell other people where to find you also...?

Yes it overlaps, the calendar is totally full this year it was impossible to schedule it without a clash somewhere. Beryl chose to clash with her own regatta rather than upset anyone else. I don't know if they will combine the briefings, I am only the Webmaster/Messenger you should ask
