You say It was I who mentioned Roger Woods, yes I did it once but not in a

following paragraph.

The only limits applying to autotug are: No flying over built up areas
where the height is insufficient to glide to a suitable landing area should a
malfunction occur. No entry into controlled airspace (who wants a transponder in
a tug anyhow) . We are presently limited to
There is no problem in obtaining a limited certification
for an auto engine for dedicated glider tugs. The cost is not excessive,
estimated to be from $20,000 to $50,000 (about the price of one Lycoming engine

etc.,
The Rotax is a very good engine but why all the
sudden interest, Autotug has done it all, can someone tell me what's
wrong with the concept or why no interest in Autotug. The following are some
figures.
1. The engine (an automotive V6) is now fast closing

Hi Colin & Yvonne
No the Autotug is not for sale, the advertised one is another Pawnee owned
by a crop sprayer who included an unfitted engine which may have created more
interest in the sale. The Autotug is closing in on 500 hours engine time

A Pawnee is of rag and metal tube construction, it is easily and
economically rebuilt back to new quality, then there must be another 30-40
years of good work in it. We did it (the airframe was not at GFA expense)
and our 100 hourlys require little work.

I don't know where you get it from that the autotug is
effectively dead. The present one has been fully utilised for a long
time now, is having no problems and is very economical. It is the club's #1
tug and will clock up it's 500 hours within a few months. There is nothing

What you say is right. If we could eliminate just mid-air and
outlanding problems we would be rid of a large percentage of accidents.(And

You say the autotug was finally killed off. This is somewhat
misleading, the company is being wound up but the tug itself is running
perfectly and has been for some time. Just ask anyone who was at the
recent QSA comps where it towed every day withou
