Rule 127 of the Australian Road Rules applies Australia wide as far as I know,
and is a part of each State's Road Traffic Act or eqivalent.
These Rules & Acts relate to "how" you drive. The rule as to how you drive a
long vehicle (or combination) in regard to distance between long vehicles kicks
There was some discussion on these pages around Easter about lengths of glider
trailers, passing, trucks etc - and the Tasmanian legislation was put up.
In SA (almost) the same provisions apply as in Tasmania, but only on Road Train
Routes, where if the a combination (prime mover & trailers) is

trailer refers to the design of the trailer.
I think that a "pig" trailer has a central set of axles and
a drawbar that carries the balance load of the trailer.
A "dog" trailer has a set of steerable wheels at the front

The RAA (SA's automobile club) recently advised of the following Australian
Road Rule, of which I was not aware, and perhaps others also. It was for the
benefit of boat and caravan towers prior to Easter getaways but would include
glider towing combinations which would probably always exceed 7.5

Does anybody have any experience with Peka torsion bar trailer suspensions?
It is most likely to be found on trailers imported from Europe.
System is similar to old VW (bug) front suspensions.

Hi Don,
Get the cheaper Avionic "Cobra" copy made in Poland. You can even get it with a
DG1000 fitted. That beets stuffing around. Tom Gilbert has details on this
trailer imported by a famous glider pilot over east.
