Miami Gliders owner Steve Diehl rallied local lawmakers and other supporters to argue his view that gliders, which use very little fuel, shouldn't require a $2 million policy for environmental hazards. Regulators finally agreed, lowering the insurance requirement to a more manageable $500,000. "We're becoming more and more attuned that small businesses represent almost 70% of the employment in this nation, and in this county, they are solid components of operations of airports and seaports," said a spokeswoman for Miami-Dade Commissioner Katie Sorenson, who asked the county to review its policy toward Miami Gliders. <http://www.smartbrief.com/servlet/aaRedirect?url2=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2emiamih erald%2ecom%2fnews%2fmiami%2ddade%2fcommunities%2fsouth%2fstory%2f1028735%2e html&id2=aa%20briefId%20aa&id3=aa%20lid%20aa&id4=BFDA20E9-6C34-4E23-81AA-989 32039EC51&id5=92BC2F6D-9BB1-4B1E-8FB8-CEBA1F148743> Miami Herald, The (05/03)
