I recently came across an Australian product called VuPlex which from
the literature seems to be identical to Plexus but much cheaper at
around $40.

I do not see prices as high as the initial poster indicated
Plexus 13 ounces = 368.543801 grams, is $22.95 and VuPlex is 19.95 for
350grams at Whitworths.
