Thank you Jason & Maurice for putting the meetings call on the list. The note below is simply to add to the feel of what is happening around Oz. [perhaps similar summaries are available for other regions?]
For South Australia - - our thanks to GFA Development Officer Terry Cubley who has been to SA a number of times, to first host a workshop on development for all interested parties across the state (well worthwhile); but also to on a later visit go to specific clubs who indicated their development interest (you will have read his impressions of things being done right or not so right in AG/SS), and then to follow up with proposals for a promotion collaboration possibilities. - like most, we have from time to time stress in finding the right person for a job, and so have incumbents being imposed on. Our attempt to relieve that is to encourage understudies who may become future successors, but in the short term fairly rapidly spread the load. Hopefully the unreasonable imposition is kept to tolerable levels in that way. And we can continue to get volunteers for each position on a reasonable rotation. - we have a fortunate tradition of active state meetings in the physical real time world (without forgetting the value of virtual world), which we keep fresh by changing the venue to different clubs, in this way avoiding any suggestion of 'close to city clubs' vs 'country clubs'. This only works because club delegates will do the travelling when it isn't their club's turn to host. I think the pittance the state association contributes to delegate travel isn't the deciding factor, but that too is a gesture of appreciation for the volunteers who keep the sport running regionally. We seem to fairly regularly get represntatives of all function areas plus 8 clubs (out of 13 in the state)(not always the same clubs) to meetings. - this permits the intervening time between meetings to progress with mandates given on topics fairly recently and regularly to particular people by consensus of most clubs directly contributing to get on with specific things.
