Normally in a DC when it won't be moved/touched I use brand XYZ DAC, in
buildings I use optics 10km SM, there is no right or wrong use case. I can
often get used/new DAC cables alot cheaper than optics.

Thanks for all the replies.
1) I'm in sydney thanks for the offers out of state:)
2) Direct attach ... interesting I use these all the time - typically I
have bought from Dell - with servers or switches and I haven't had an issue
with them
3) looking for about 1-1.5m QSFP and SFP+ (40G + 10G)
We've used the Dell QSFP cables for their Force10 Mezzanine Blades and havent
had an issue.
Only Passive 10g SFP cables with SFP on each end that ive personally used is
the Cisco TwinAX stuff, other than that i use their branded optics in SR, LR
and now ZR (yes 80km 10g optics)

to be particularly reliable, have you? We've reverted to optical modules for
