I have signed up for NBN in the last few weeks at home. We signed up with one RSP, and Telstra a few days later. Being an HFC area, each ISP needed to book an appointment for installation. Despite placing the order nearly a week later, Telstra managed to get their appointment a full week faster. It sure does feel like this field is tilted…
Of course neither appointment was able to get us connected first go, but that’s a story for another time… Alex Chard Consulting Network Engineer RELX Technology Services 475 Victoria Ave, Chatswood, NSW 2067 •: +61 (02) 9422 2226 [mobile]: +61 (04) 03 894 614 •: alex.ch...@relx.com www.relx.com<http://www.relx.com/> From: AusNOG [mailto:ausnog-boun...@lists.ausnog.net] On Behalf Of Louis Crossing Sent: Monday, 3 July 2017 11:43 PM To: Chris Hurley <ch...@minopher.net.au> Cc: <ausnog@lists.ausnog.net> <ausnog@lists.ausnog.net> Subject: Re: [AusNOG] NBN and telstra *** External email: use caution *** There are some installation technicians (contractors for NBNco) telling our customers that certain installation issues wouldn't be happening if the customer had signed up with Telstra. I've had a few occasions now where I've had to explain to customers that Telstra are just another RSP and what the technician told them was nonsense. We've had dozens of users denied internet once the NBNs into an area which Telstra has a presence in – seeing every dodgy DNS changes/denials of access . Even though they have 12 months to make their choice of provider. Also hearing from other provider same stories. The NBN as supposed to be a ‘level playing field’ seems it has tilt.
