Could you try moving into AOT\Forms\Tutorial_EventProcessor
open it and then click the start button. 
See if it helps.

Yes, I've tried that several times, and I get the message to the email 
distributor batch job is added to the batch queue, but nothing else happens - I 
can see the sending status all at 'waiting', and thats it.I've also followed 
this article to the letter and still get the same result....

You need to go to Admin à Periodic à Email processing and  run batch this 
processes the emails

Hi
Can anyone please tell me why, when sending email alerts, the alerts 
just sit in the email sending status queue as 'waiting'. I keep going 
round and round in circles. I'm pretty sure the AX part is setup, I 
can email reports, and we have some custom functionality that sends 
emails and this works perfectly fine. 

Would really appreciate some guidance on this
