Hi,
You need to delete the year 2008 from the periods first. Don't worry
your transactions will not be deleted. Then create from 2006 onwards.

Do you mean to say you defined the Posting account in the path
IM -- Setup -- Posting -- Posting form tab Purchase order and Options
Receipt.
Check for the item or item group posting setup here.
