I do not believe that you can install it on Windows XP. Your computer needs to
be running Windows Server. This may work on Windows 7, from what I've heard.
However, you could run Virtual PC on XP and set up Windows Server to run AX.
You will need at least 3 GB RAM to run it.

Yes, that is correct. You need to be on Advanced Management to purchase DCOs.
In addition, if you want something beyond the Employee Role, you may have to
purchase Vendor, Customer Roles, etc.

You can run the Role Centers by installing Sharepoint Services vs. Sharepoint
Server. You do not have to pay for Services, but there is a license fee for
Server. You can access the Role Center and Enterprise Portal using Services
inside the network or outside by using Term Services, VPN or sec
