I think what I am going to tell them is. " I think its ok. Since this ( free or old ) number has never been used. what is the problem to use it".

We had faced some problems with the numberSequence for the Journal names. Sometimes, it used to get locked and could not even proceed to create a journal. After getting help from Girish from this village, I clicked on button 'List' and deleted all the entries. And as the time goes, we used to face this problem more frequently in all the axapta environments and we logged a case with microsoft. They gave us a fix and we installed and after that we didn;t have this problem.
 
Yesterday one of our functional guys contacted 'me Why the hell is Axapta using old Journal Numbers even though we checked continuous'. what I feel, the fix which we put ( just one line code change xpo ) is acually cleaning up the numbers and 'put back to the free pool which are ready for use. Hence its fetching old numbers which were freeed.
 
Now the customer now really does not appreciate this. And the functional guy is going to contact me today.
 
I am also in the same boat.
 
Does anyone have any help for me ( us )?. Basically looking for work around in stead of touching the tables.

In the General Leger module, there were many Journals entered. Some
have been posted and some have have not been.
In all there are some 98 journals entered serially, across GL, AP and
AR module. These 98 journals have been posted till yesterday.
 
Today in the morning when the new button was clicked in the General
Journal form, a got new JV number 73, instead of JV no 98 (being
'continious' check box checked in the number sequence form).JV number 73 was
already created and posted in the GL.
The Consistency Check as well as Clean Up was run to make it work
correctly, but still not able to get the new JV number other than 73.
 
Has anyone faced a similar problem
