It is possible to link different numbering sequences to different 
journal names.  We do this to create unique voucher numbers for 
different types/classification of transactions.  For example, our 
CASH journal has CSH in the voucher number; MISC journal has MSC in 
the voucher number, Tax journal has TAX in the voucher number, etc.

Our journal table is shared, but the voucher number sequences are 
not.  

Steps:  first set up the journal; Navigation 
GL>Setup>Journals>Journal names.  In the form add the journal name - 
designate journal type & other criteria.  Under the Voucher series; 
right click and select "go to main table" & it takes you to the 
number sequence form.  Create a new record, enter relevant info and 
then select.

All of our voucher series are named "Ledg_###" (number 
sequencially), to keep them all in one group & easily identifiable 
as a voucher number sequences linked to a journal.
