What i understood from the problem is that you have configured 2 instances set up and wish to access them from the same client machine by pointing to the right instance via the client config utility. However it is going to the same instance all the time even when u specify the port number correctly.
If this is the case then check that port number if it is assigned for some other task in ur machine. you can manually assign some other port for the seond instance and then access it.
