You should check out Business Views. Extract from some doc:
"Using business views, these enum values can be extracted from
Axapta, and viewed externally in their human readable format, so for
example, instead of seeing the internal value 0, in a business view,
you would see the English word 'N
You can access directly
to the DB if you only read data. If you want to modify or delete, use the COM.
