I recently tested entering Chinese text on the 'standard' virtual machine of
Dynamics AX 4.0

I *assume* it should work on 3.0 as well.

SQL server can store Chinese characters (I think that's the default character
storage settings.
Entry of Chinese characters is actually handles by Windows (there are special
entry methods)

So all you have to do is add the version of Chinese to the client machine
(through Regional and Language Settings), and you are ready to go

I did not test a Chinese language user interface, but I'm told by my colleagues
Dynamics AX arrives with a set of Chinese language labels for the user
interface. These texts should work for both Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese.

Subject: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] How to do Chinese in AX3.0?

Hi everyone,

Can anyone direct me to any info or whitepaper on running chinese characters in
AX?

I need to understand about for the user interface (i.e. labels)
The other part is for the data entry (i.e. SQL and AX setup required...I read
about collation matters and get a little lost/scared).

At the moment it is not clear if the customer wants a english user interface
with just the ability to enter chinese characters in some extra fields that get
printed on reports etc or whether they want a full chinese version so feel free
to throw ideas at me

Is there any issues with having english and chinese AX companies within the
same AX SQL database (I read things about collation on SQL and get the general
idea of what its about so wonder if Chinese and English can coexist within the
same database)?

Thanks once again
James
