Best Practices says that ‘dat’ company should remain empty.
So, first thing you should create a new Company let’s say it’s name ‘Con’ then
import demo data in new company.

go to administration-periodic-Data export/import-import. here, give ur demo
data file name and click ok. data will be imported in the selected
current (dat) company.
