I played with making master planning pass serial number all the way along the supply chain (and did get it to work) Its not ideal but maybe somethign to consider if you need an easy visible reference (rather than using the marking which can be very difficult for the user to track with and personally I still dont trust anyway) Maybe you could master plan with serial number and then in the planned orders look to do some goruping by date or something? The code for master planning by serial number I can provide (not sure if I already posted to the group previously...)
