hi!

Put the following into your registry:

---------------------------------------------------
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions]
"MaxAllowedZone"=dword:00000001
---------------------------------------------------

That did the trick for me.

Subject: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Windows Server 2003 SP1

Hello,

I am working on a Windows Server 2003 SP 1 machine.

This means that all windows help files (.chm) cannot be viewed over a network
(Microsoft says it's a security issue fixed by SP1).

Since our Axapta Application is run over a network, I thus cannot open the
Axapta Developer's Guide.chm in Axapta - I get an "Action Cancelled" browser
error message in the content part of the .chm file.

According to various sources, the only way to view .chm files is to make a
local copy. But, if you try to open a local copy of the Axapta "Developer's
Guide.chm", you get a "Cannot Open the File" error.

We tried on various other colleagues' machines (even though they do not have
SP1), and we still got the same error.

My assumption is that the Developers' Guide can only be viewed through Axapta -
Probably because of security issues.

There is couple of proposed registry fixes, but they have no relevance to my
registry setup:

For e.g. they propose pasting the following code into notepad, saving it as a
.reg and executing it:

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions]
"UrlAllowList"=\\productmanuals\helpfiles;file://\\productmanuals\helpfiles;
http://www.wingtiptoys.com/help/
<file:///\\productmanuals\helpfiles;file:\productmanuals\helpfiles;http:\www
.wingtiptoys.com\help\>

- Obviously using the relevant path to Developer's Guide.chm.

My problem lies therein that my registry path looks different, it's:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\2.0\LocalReg]

With various HxDS prefixes (e.g. HxDS.HxAttribute etc)

Nothing containing ItssRestrictions or HHRestrictions (the other possibility).

I have even added a

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions]

Key to the registry, and also

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\2.0\ItssRestrictions]

But to no avail. Nothing works.

Has anyone encountered the same problem, and do you maybe have a working
solution

Thank you in advance
