it is not clear what front end routine(s) to call to take advantage

I built gcl manually per suggestion. Based on suggestions
I used the following configure command:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local \
--enable-vssize=65536*2 --enable-maxpage=256*1024 \

After installing gcl, I configured Axiom:

I've gotten the CVS check-out of Axiom from savannah.nongnu.org
and am trying to build it. I get an error on fat_strings.c in gcl-2.6.8pre/o
file not found bfd.h and bfdlink.h
Note: this is Kubuntu linux on an AMD64
