In other words, you need tk8.4-dev and dependencies installed before configuring and building GCL, otherwise you get the string "gcl-tk not made" in the build output. If you are on Debian and want a quick test, you should be able to 'apt-get install gcl', which will pull in tk automatically, and point tkconnect to the gcltksrv therein. tkconnect can take arguments specifying the path to gcltksrv: tkconnect &key host display can-rsh gcltksrv I prefer (reset-sys-paths....) as in my posted example, as this sets the load-path and related variables as needed as well.
