I did a little bit of work with WSTK -- sounds like you and I are headed down similar paths.
I can tell you that your primary point of interest is probably com.ibm.wsdl.xml.WSDLReader. If you generate the JavaDoc for wsdl4j, it should give you a little help

You're not missing anything obvious (at least not that I'm aware of).
WDL4J is a work in progress, so there's not much documentation out there.
