Hi Mary I don't know if this is the definitive answer on Quiteria and what name it is in the U.S. but an ancestor of my husband's from Faial, was named Quiteria Felicia and went by the name of Gertrude here in the U.S. Hope that helps. Maybe there are others too? Kathy

Hi Edgar, That looks like it could be them, Manuel (Manuelo) was my Mary's younger brother and has many descendants all over the US now. The fifth living child if this is the correct family would be my Mary, who was married in 1895 to William Hamilton. This would be the first I've heard of
