Hi Kay,
I have been working with records from Ribeira Grande and Ribeirinha and
have lots of lines. Your marriage could be in the period after the
records were filmed by the LDS (1883-1884). It would be helpful if you
had more information on your earliest ancestor from that area. I
checked my da
Paul: I have Menezes in my lines. I go pretty far back. What is the name of
the last one that you found? Mine are from Sao Miguel island.
We might be related.

Hi Bob, my mother-in-law was a Martins da Costa and was from Sao Sebastiao,
Terceira. I don't have very much background on her and have not done any
genealogy work on her ancestors.

Shirley,
I have a Manuel Josito Menezes born at Ribeiro Grand, San Miguel on
March 20, 1888. I actually go back one more generation with the
marriage record of Manuel's father (Jancintho ?) to a Pierra but can't
lay my hands on the record at the moment.
I'd love to find a connection.

I would love to connect more with you. In Hollister, I have a cousin who is
the granddaughter of Joseph da Rosa. We met several years ago when she was
into genealogy too. I've recently contacted her about a month ago and she

Paul,
My grandparents Jose and Francisca J. (Almeida) Pereira immigrated to
Massachusetts from Maia, Ribeira Granda, Sao Miguel. Do you have any info on
the Pereira side of your family? They left with a one year old child named
Umberto. Arrived in Boston in 1904.
Hi all,
I haven't been participating much on this group recently and I wanted
to let you all know why...
Right at the beginning of the year, my computer died. I now have a
new one, but
until I get the information off of my old hard drive, I've lost all
my
emails. So, if you emailed me anytime
When I go back to look at the parish books, I will make a copy. It
almost looks like "Bacley" but that is not it.
Thanks for the reply, I knew that this one was going to be a long shot
as it was not typical.
