book which purports to show all the Portuguese families on the island. (My
parents were born and raised there, which is why I perk up whenever I hear the

Island:
I am currently researching Antonio de Medeiros Sampaio and Ellena Rosa from
Achada, Nordeste.
Antonio is the son of: Alferes Jose Antonio de Medeiros Sao Paio and Rosa
de Araujo.
Ellena Rosa's parents are unknown.
Their children:
Francisca born 1845
Manuel born 1847
Jose born 1850
Joam born 1852

I'm not sure if these are the same people but Carlos Machado lists a Manuel
Vaz Sousa (b. abt 1565) married to Ignes Costa (b.abt 1570) m. abt 1588.
They had two daughters: Maria Cabeceiras (1590), Ana da Costa abt a year or
two later. Manuel is descended from Goncalo Vaz Carreiro-Delga
