Yes, I am on the West Coast - No. California to be exact in Truckee - No. shore of Lake Tahoe.  I can find the linguica at Safeway, etal - but I had never heard of the Chourico - I've had Mexican Chorizo - which I am kinda assuming is like Chourico (?). Thanks for the info - this all helps. _

We have the Mexican style of Chourico here in Spring. I have tried it but the meat is ground so you don't know what they put in it. With issue means he left descendants. I will try to find your grandmother's lineage. You have an exact date of birth and the name of her parents and the place of her birth. Have you written to the Archives in Horta and asked for her birth record? It will also give you the name of her grandparent

For Manuel Mello (De Mello???) he went to Hawaii from Sao Miguel as a 5yr old in 1883 and his wife, Maria Mederios, who he married in Hilo in 1897, went to Hawaii as an 18 mo. old in 1881.  I got all this info from another person on Ancestry.com.  I never found any of that info myself. ___
